The driftwood used in most of my sculptures is collected from many areas around the country. Primarily, I search for pieces along the riverbanks of the Suwannee River, shores of Lake Erie, along the riverbanks of streams in western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and along the upper edge of the Chesapeake Bay where the Susquehanna River empties into the bay. I consider it an integral part of the sculpture to enhance the particular bird species I'm trying to represent. It's one of the more fun aspects of my work and I'm always on the lookout for the ultimate piece.
